My Updated Spring Hair Routine to fight frizz and humidity

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are having a great week. I wanted to take some time on here and update you on my current hair routine. Earlier this year I had shared that once I stopped breastfeeding, I had some hair loss and my hair in texture and manageability just didn’t feel the same anymore. Early February I began trying a customizable shampoo and conditioner by Formulate; that is literally created to meet my needs and concerns.  Formulate engineers your shampoo and conditioner by taking in account your natural hair, your hair goals, where you live, and your lifestyle. So, if you live in an area that’s really humid (like I do) they customize the shampoo to adapt to that type of weather.  I was able to customize my shampoo and conditioner down to the smell, which I thought was really cool! After the first try, I felt like my hair had a special treatment. I blew out my hair in half of the time! You have to understand that I have very coarse curly hair and between blowing it out and flat ironing it, it could take a good hour!

My First Impression

I used it for about 3 weeks and then the company contacted me and asked me if I wanted to make any changes to the formula. I thought that was really cool because I felt like I wanted the smell to be stronger and the anti-frizz serum in the product to be lessened. Don’t get me wrong, I loved that my hair felt smooth and straightened so quickly, but my hair felt a little heavy with a film on it; like I had too much product in it. They immediately updated my formula and within days I had a new shampoo and conditioner waiting at my door. (Ps. I realized later I was using too much of the conditioner and you only need a small amount of product). The second batch was even better!

Healthy Scalp

One thing that has been really important to me is switching to a hair product that is sulfate, paraben, and animal cruelty free. The reason why sulfate free is such a necessity is because sulfate can strip the hair and scalp down of its natural oils. I used to use shampoo that wasn’t sulfate free, so when I switched to the Formulate shampoo, it definitely took me a little bit to get used to, but now I love it. About 2 weeks ago, I wanted to see what would happen if I went back to my old hair routine, just to see if there was a real difference. And boy was there ever! It not only took me an hour (yeesh!) to blow out my hair; my hair didn’t hold the style for very long. I found myself going over my hair with the flat iron more often throughout the week; thus, causing more heat damage. With the Formulate shampoo and conditioner, my hair holds its style longer and I don’t battle Frizz as badly any more.

My Overall Thoughts

All in all, I love that I can customize this shampoo and conditioner to fit my needs for different times of the year. For example, I live in Florida where we it’s getting hotter and more humid by the moment. I specifically asked for a shampoo and conditioner with Anti-Frizz; it’s helped my hair  keep its style (even when I am outside for long periods of time) and nothing worked before…it was terrible! Before if I styled my hair and walked outside, by the time I got in the car…my hair was frizzy and puffy (So annoying!).

I recently contacted Formulate and they were so generous to offer my readers the chance to get a free set of their own customizable shampoo and conditioner ($49 value!). Even better, if you enter, you get a 5 dollar off coupon just for entering.
